A biometric wall safe also known as a fingerprint safe reads a
finger print for a person to gain access. It is a clever idea; after all, law enforcement agencies have used finger
prints for years to identify criminals. The reason is; every person on the planet has a different
fingerprint. Each is one of a kind.
Biometric wall
safes can be programmed to accept the print of just one person, or it can store multiple
fingerprints if the house owner wants other people to have access. Depending on the brand, the
sensor can store up to six finger prints in the memory. The fingerprints can then be stored, verified, or
deleted by the swipe of a finger.
In addition to gaining entry with a print, a five-digit pass code
can also be programmed into many brands of these security devices.
With a fingerprint wall safe the homeowner doesn't need to keep
track of a key or remember a combination. Finger print technology makes these steel cabinets secure and
generally quick for a user to access. However, if a finger is greasy, sweaty, or swiped too quickly
a it can deny access. This access problem can be overcome with a little care and practice. So if you
have a one, allow the technology to read your fingerprint by following the manufacturers instruction
manual (or user guide) that will come with your fingerprint safe.
Many biometric fingerprint safes are stainless steel and have a
12-volt rechargeable battery, so no wiring is required. The battery will need a recharge from time to
time, but it should last a long time.
Here are some examples of biometric safes:
ADG Sports Secure Vault Safe. There are no combinations to remember because your
fingerprint is the key. The ADG Sports Secure Vault allows up to 255 fingerprints.
The GunVault MiniVault Biometric Safe can store up to 30 prints to open the safe.
The Biosafe features a large interior space and is suitable for laptop computers, precious
metals, passport, credit cards, jewelry, important files and other valuables. The Biosafe can remember up to
29 users.
The SentrySafe Fire-Safe has the ability to program in up to 14 prints, and has override
of a programmable PIN and a tubular key lock. Each user has an individual PIN which may be created using 4-8
digits.
The Honeywell Safes Digital Fire with Biometric Fingerprint Scan will grant access of up
to 9 additional finger users. It has a key override feature and 1.2 cubic feet of interior storage. This
Honeywell model also has a 1700°F / 1 Hour Fire Protection rating.
